The Flower Challenge #22

Hello, hello and welcome to another month at The Flower Challenge!! Before I share what our theme is this month, I just wanted to thank you for all the amazing entries we got last month. It was very overwhelming having to choose our favourites, there were so many incredible designs it was excruciating having to choose.  So, even though I know it will be hard again, I'm so looking forward to seeing what you come up with this month!!

That's right, 'Monochrome', meaning designs where the colours are basically all the same, just in different shades. You can certainly use black, white and grey (which would be scary if not) and then one colour palette. Its amazing what you can do with one colour so can't wait to see your projects!!

When I saw it was 'Monochrome' month I knew I wanted to do grey straight away. Its one of my favourite colours at the moment and I love using it on flowers:

I've been struggling a lot with my watercolouring lately and received some fantastic tips from my friends, which helped a lot. I just need to keep practicing and hopefully it will slowly get better....

I cut a panel of watercolour CS slightly bigger than my card base and heat embossed the Studio Katia 'Your So Ranunculus' image in white. Then using a water brush and a Zig Real Color Brush pen in grey I coloured it in, trying to add shading as I went. Once it had dried I die-cut it using a waffle-edged die from MFT Stamps 'Blueprints 27' and adhered to the card front.

The sentiment (from the same Studio Katia stamp set) was heat embossed on a strip of the same watercolour CS in silver and popped up on foam tape. And for a bit of shine I added clear sequins from Neat and Tangled.

You have until Wednesday 25th July to link your projects to The Flower Challenge and we will be back on the 15th with some more inspiration for you. I can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Take care
Shona
