Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge

It is absolutely pouring with rain at the moment (its 9pm Thursday) and been raining like this on and off all day. Its not looking good for gardening tomorrow that's for sure, unless I can find myself a pair of waders to wander thru the mud with!! I've only been able to garden two days this week, next week is only 4 days (with Good Friday) and the following is only 3 days (Easter Monday and Anzac Day) so you can imagine how behind I am and will be........oh well, just think of all the housework I can get done, the cards I can make and all the Netflix I can catch up on.....

The theme for this weeks Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge is 'No Designer Paper'. I'll be honest I really do love all the paper pads (and have a drawer full of them) but I never use them. Is it weird that I think of it as cheating?? I'm also in awe of people that can use different papers on a card. I really struggle to get one pattern to look good, let alone 3 or 4. I like to challenge myself to make a card without using paper but sometimes it would certainly make life easier....

I got some new goodies in the mail last week from my friend Sarah of Funky Fossil Designs. She designs the most amazing stencils and has now created three stamp sets, one of which I couldn't resist getting:

This gorgeous little unicorn is from the set 'Chubby Unicorns'. As I totally relate to the word 'chubby' I wanted to give this set a home. This is one of three images in the set and you'll see cards with all of them over the next week or so.

I also purchased the 'Floral Lace Heart Stencil' which comes with the outside part of the heart, so you could blend a solid heart shape and then put the heart on top with a different colour. Super cool design! For this card I put the heart in the aperture and blended a 'pastel rainbow' using Distress Inks.

The unicorn was stamped on TAD watercolour CS using Versafine black ink and then immediately clear heat embossed. I then watercoloured the tail and mane with the same Distress Inks I used for the stencil. I also used Gansai Tambi 'Blue Gold' paint for the horn. All I had to do then was fussy cut it out and pop it on some foam tape. I wanted a pretty sentiment to go along with the stencil, so stamped one from SSS 'Beautiful Day' in black and glued on some Neat and Tangled sequins.

I'm also going to link this to the Kat Scrappiness April Challenge where their theme is 'Pastels'.

Its nearly time for me to go to bed and catch up on Instagram, YouTube and Netflix. I also wanted to finally start reading the book my husband gave me at the start of the year but might leave it till the weekend. I might even be able to sneak in some reading time tomorrow if I'm a good girl and get the housework done first.........

Take care
Shona
