The theme for this weeks Simon Says Stamp - Monday Challenge is 'Halloween'. We don't celebrate it very much in New Zealand, so its fantastic that I join a lot of challenges that do. It gives me a chance to create with my 'scary' side....
This card came about because of my clumsiness. I was colouring this image with pencils, finished it off and then dropped all my pencils on to it. This resulted in a black mark right under his nose. I didn't want to waste this and what else could I do with a sweet little boy but turn him into a Zombie:
This little boy and his fox are from the 'Better Together' set. I have no idea who he has eaten already to be covered with all this blood but he still looks kind of sweet don't you think??
After colouring with pencils, I fussy cut him out and coloured the edges with a black pen. I used a fine black pen to elongate his 'zombie' eyes and make his mouth larger. I then used a red marker to add the blood to the image and create a puddle on a panel of white CS. After going thru all my stamp sets to find the perfect sentiment, I stamped this one from Waffle Flower 'Willy and Friends' in black. The panel was cut smaller than the card front and popped up on foam tape. I added foam tape to the image and then some Glossy Accents over the blood to give it dimension and shine.
My kids and even my husband love this one, will be interesting to hear what you all think!!
I'm going to link this to two other challenges:
Virginia's View Challenge # 24
CASology Challenge # 218
For the CASology Challenge I think the little boy is offering support in a 'give me a hug before I eat you' kind of way.....lol....
I have one more card to show you (its not as scary) but need to go and make some Cannelloni for dinner. Max is away for the night at a birthday sleepover, so I can make this meal without having to make him something different. I can't wait for the day when everyone eats the same thing!!
Take care
Shona
haha....now that's a way to save a project! Such a fun card :)
ReplyDeleteHappy accident, wasn't it. Fulfills your ghoulish love of horror flicks but at the same time is cute. Initially, thought he was carrying a slaughtered teddy bear but, apparently it's a fox sidekick for this tiny, gruesome zombie-let. Very cute and, to me, the perfect sentiment.
ReplyDeleteOh, my boys would LOVE this card! Haha! Way to turn "cute" into "scary"! :)
ReplyDeletePerfectly CAS and I love the twist on the cue word! Thanks so much for joining us again over at CASology!
Such an interesting way to fix your mistake! I am glad your kids liked it. Thank you so much for playing along with us over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog this week :)
