As I have made the odd one or two cards in the past (wink, wink....), I was in charge of his Father's Day card. I knew exactly what colours to use (he loves red and white), and it needed to be modern and clean, so my Neat and Tangled 'Polygon Cover Plate Die' came to the rescue:
I had a 'very tiny' window of opportunity to whip this card up while Dave took the dog for a walk, so I didn't get to 'inlay' my die-cut pieces in more precisely but he loved it and the kids filled it with lots of lovely words!!
I started by die-cutting a piece of red CS with the die. I kept all the pieces in the die itself and covered the back with Glad 'Press n Seal'. I then carefully removed it and took off the main shape of the die and glued to the card base. I then just randomly chose red pieces to glue back into place, so not to cover the whole card as I think the red stands out even more against white.
Once I was finished, I die-cut the 'DAD' 3x from white CS using my Altenew 'Caps Bold Alphabet' dies. I glued them all together and popped each letter up on foam tape. For the rest of the sentiment I gathered stamps from Winnie and Walter 'The Big, the Bold and Happy', stamped them in black on a strip of white CS and put it on foam tape, along with some red and clear sequins from Neat and Tangled.
I'm going to link this to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where the theme is 'Pop it Up', which is something I always love to do on my cards. I would be lost without my foam tape!!!
The last few days have been so warm and beautiful, 21 degrees (celcius) today and yesterday, and tomorrow is going to be 23 degrees! Might have to break out the weedwhacker and sort out my hairy legs so I can get into my shorts and not scare the animals in the garden!! Wish me luck!
Take care
Shona
I'm sure your hairy legs aren't really all that hairy, girl...and you'll look so cool in your shorts with a weedwhacker in hand. Very sexy image. Dave must love the look. Almost as much as he must have loved this extraordinary card. I can't belive you managed to make it on tbe fly. Looks as though you spent hours on it.
ReplyDeleteYup, the razor needs to come out here too.... love this Shona, it's a great masculine card, I love the drama of the red and white
