CAS Colors and Sketches Challenge # 81

The two weeks of school holidays has started and I can see its going to be a tight squeeze to fit in any crafting. So nice though not having to rush in the morning!!

I really loved the look of this color combo at the CAS Colors and Sketches Challenge. I quickly realised though that I didn't have any papers to cover the 'crumb cake' color and thought what a perfect time to make my first ever 'kraft' card.

This was a scary card to make as I've never used Kraft card before and didn't know how the stamps would look. So after much experimenting, I jumped in with both feet. I do love triangles and decided to devote the card entirely to them, using different sizes, patterns and colors. I also had another go at heat embossing with the white triangles. Was very pleased with how they came out and didn't burn myself this time!! I put some Wink of Stella on the solid gray triangles and then left it alone. I really like it!!

The triangle stamps are from Altenew 'Sohcahtoa' and 'Simple Shapes' and the sentiment from Kaisercraft 'Hip Hip'.

I'm also going to link this to the challenge at CAS on Sunday #37 where their theme is 'One Layer Wonder'.

Its 9.37pm Monday night here in New Zealand and I'm off to bed. Didn't go to bed till 4.30am Sunday morning and 1am this morning because I was playing with all my new craft goodies. Will try to sneak in a few shaker challenge cards tomorrow...wish me luck!!

Take care

  1. Love, love, love this card! Great use of the colors - and a perfect CAS card! Thanks for playing along with us at CAS Colours & Sketches!

  2. Shona, I love your card. You did a great job with your triangles. I can see this one layer card in a card store. You should make a couple different ones and package them as a set of cards. The colors work so well together. Awesome job!!!

  3. Love your Kraft card! Your stamping is perfect and you have such a good eye for design :)

  4. during the summer time??? that seems so strange to me, for some reason I always think the rest of the world operates just like we in the US, guess you all don't. I have to agree with you, this color combination is amazing and so is your card. I love all your sweet little triangles and that has to be the perfect birthday sentiment. Enjoy your school holiday...savor every minute, it will fly by.

  5. You did a super job with the colors! And kraft is a perfect substitute for Crumb Cake. Thanks for joining us at CAS - Colours & Sketches!

  6. Brilliant use of Kraft and the colour combo. Very CAS. Thanks for playing at CC&S
    Louise xx

  7. I don't use kraft much either, Shona ... but you've done a brilliant job here! LOVE all those fabulous triangles (sigh ... graphic shapes!) ... the white embossing really pops against the darker background! Enjoy all your new goodies! Anita :)

  8. I love Kraft cardstock and you made so fine-looking card, Shona. I really like graphic design and white shapes that add vividness to it
