Curtain Call Challenge - Something Simple

Wow, its been two weeks since my last post. I've thought about my blog every day, its become part of my life.

Unfortunately the weekend of the 31st May/1st June lead me up to the First Anniversary of my fathers death. I thought I would have been fine but as that week went on my emotions got the better of me and I lost all my happy. He died on the 2nd June from a stroke, 4 days before his 79th birthday. He would have been 80yrs last week. I miss him dearly.

The one good thing is that his passing was the reason I started my blog and he would be very proud of me for doing something WAY out of my comfort zone. And......my happy is coming back......

So, what a better way to start than with the Curtain Call Challenge. Their cue this week was 'Something Simple'.
This was perfect for me. I wanted a card that was soft, white and with no embellishments (had to say no to my enamel dots...eeek).
I love this card, its exactly what I wanted to do. Simple and colours I love. Although I must say that trying to cut up tiny bits of foam tape to adhere the 'hello' drove me a little crazy. I adhered 3  'hello's' in white cardstock together to make it stronger. And used my circle paper punches to create the background.

The Hello metal die is from The Crafters Workshop. The blue paper from Carta Bella 'So Noted' and grey paper from Teresa Collins 'Memorabilia'.

I'm also going to link this card to the challenge at CAS on Sunday where their theme is 'Paper Piecing'.

And will also link to the challenge at Less is More where their theme is 'Colours of your Bedroom'. We have this shade of blue on our walls with white trims and our bed is decorated in grey. Its my favourite room in our house as its all the colours I'm drawn too.

Better start all my linking. Still raining here so perfect weather for more crafting. And happy ideas are starting to fill my brain.....

Take care
Shona

  4. Hi Shona! Thanks for stopping by my blog, I'm happy to meet you! Living in New Zealand with a Gaelic name made me wonder if you are a descendant of the Waipu Scots that moved from here, Nova Scotia, to New Zealand? It's so cool that you are a dog person too!
I've been looking at your cards and you do fabulous CAS cards! I'm so jealous, I can't do those at all. I love your card and how beautifully you interpreted the inspiration piece. I admire your perseverance with the foam tape and that diecut. It's great to know that you're crazy like me! LOL!
So sorry about your Father. There is no way to fix a broken heart, but time will put a Band-Aid on it for you.
