Honey I Shrunk the Kit - May 2017

Hi there everybody and welcome to our latest 'Honey I Shrunk the Kit'!!

Every couple of months myself and a few card making friends create cards from a kit that one of us has sent everyone. This time it was my turn and boy was I nervous!! I decided to go with a 'Cute Friends' theme and this is what I sent everyone:

I got rather carried away with what I could fit in the envelope (as you can see) and certainly don't expect the girls to use everything. They can use the leftovers for any of their future cards which is handy, especially if they don't own these products. There are products from:

Neat and Tangled
My Favourite Things
Studio Katia
Pretty Pink Posh
Winnie and Walter

I had a grand old time colouring all the images with my pencils and could have created a million cards but managed to stop at five.

For this first card I took the PPP window die-cut negatives and coloured them each with Distress Inks. They were adhered to the card front with each cat popped up on foam tape, as well as the sentiment, along with some sequins from Neat and Tangled.

I love this little Yeti (from My Favourite Things) so much. I decided that since a rainbow is just as beautiful and rare, that they would make a great pairing. I watercoloured the PPP Stitched Rectangle (die-cut from water colour CS) using Gansai Tambi paints. Once dry I put it on foam tape, as well as the Yeti and the sentiment. And I also added sequins from Neat and Tangled.

I love how this turned out so much. I took the Studio Katia Nested Square die cut (from water colour CS) and used three different blue Gansai Tambi  water colour paints to create the ombre background, like the ocean. I also decided to use blue paint along the bottom of the MFT 'Hugs' die-cuts, just like waves. I adhered the MFT Otter and fish to the panel and then popped the 'Hugs' up on foam tape. The sentiment was put on foam tape too and I added some sequins from Avery Elle.

For this 4th card I decided to use some patterned paper...crazy I know!! I thought this paper would go perfectly with the colour of the tree's and Yeti and would be a change from creating a winter snow scene. I cut the panel of Pinkfresh Studio 'Felicity' paper and adhered to the card front. I glued on the PPP Stitched Window die-cut and popped the MFT Yeti and trees on foam tape. The sentiment was also put on foam tape and I added some Neat and Tangled sequins.

For my final card I wanted to use another MFT Otter image. I die-cut a circle of water colour CS (circle die from Couture Creations) and coloured it with Distress Ink 'Picked Raspberry'. I flicked it with some water and dabbed with tissues to create a splotchy background. I then cut the circle and put both parts on the card front with foam tape. The stones were adhered in place and the Otter and sentiment were put on foam tape. And of course I had to add some pink and clear Neat and Tangled sequins.

Whew, that was one long post!! If you made it this far well done and thank you so much for reading through to the end. And now for the fun part, I get to pop over to the blogs of my friends to see what amazing creations they come up with, using my kit. And I hope you visit them too:

Thanks so much for stopping by. I'm off to see what the rest of the 'Honey-babes' have made and leave them lots of love. I hope they enjoyed the kit as much as I did!!

Take care
Shona

  1. Thanks for such an adorable kit Shona, I tend to shy away from colouring images of cuties but absolutely loved this bundle. You've worked wonders with them too, not surprisingly as your cards always insprire. Awesome clean designs with such perfect backgrounds. Just love seeing how each us plays so differently with the same kit and can't wait for the next day out. Hugs x

  2. This was just the most gorgeous kit, Shona, and I am seriously considering getting more of those cute MFT otters....so glad that I still have a few to play with! Your cards are wonderfully designed and your colouring has brought all of these sweet characters to life. I love the vibrant multi-coloured background for your yeti and the watery effect that you have created for the otter card. There are lots of clever finishing touches and design ideas here that I am sure I shall 'borrow'! Great inspiration xx

  3. Sho, this was an extraordinarily cute kit - appropriately named, and a complete blast to play with. I still have oodles of cuteness that I will be putting to good use! I was so hoping to use those fantastic sequins! Those colours are so dreamy, but in the end, I didn't because my colour schemes ended up clashing. Will enjoy them other cards, you'll see! ;-)I had another idea with those otters too, but ran out of time, sadly. He will be reincarnated in another card life ;-)! I ADORE that rainbow yeti card, and your pink and grey combo is OTTERLY gorgeous too, with its pink waterflecked sunset! What an excellent idea! That heart patterned paper is so cute behind little beastie friend there, and the cat trio on your first card is inspired! Love those coloured squares behind those furry faces! Thanks again for such a cute kit, Sho! I am next....feeling just a little nervous! ;-)
