Happy Little Stampers - Watercolour Challenge - May

Hi there everyone and if you live on my side of the world, welcome to the 1st of May!!! This year is whizzing by, I feel like I should start thinking about Christmas cards etc!! The beginning of a new month also means the start of a new challenge theme at the Happy Little Stampers - Watercolour Challenge!

This month we have as usual our 'Anything Goes' theme but we also have the optional twist of 'Red'. So you can water colour anything you like, its totally up to you!! And of course you also have the chance to win a $20 gift voucher to spend at Happy Little Stampers!!

Red isn't a colour I use that often on my cards and I was tempted to give it a miss but I decided to put on my big girl pants and give the colour a shot:

I thought if I was going to go red, I would make it 'BIG' and I thought immediately of this Hero Arts red cling stamp I've had for ages. I stamped and heat embossed it in gold on a piece of water colour CS. I then used my Gansai Tambi water colour paints to colour the flower, trying to make the bigger parts of the petals more vivid than the thin edge portions. I decided to keep the middle of the flower free of colour but covered it with lots of Wink of Stella.

To add a bit of interest to the flower I decided to cut out the middle part. The outside edge was adhered straight to the card front, overlapping the card edge slightly and the middle part popped up on foam tape. I wanted the flower to be the star of the card, so kept the sentiment simple and elegant by using this stamp from Studio Katia 'Thank you so Much' in black. And of course I had to add a few sequins from Neat and Tangled.

I have four challenges I would like to enter:

Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes)

Simon Says Stamp - Work It Wednesday Challenge - April (Rain and/or Flowers)

AAA Card Challenge # 89

A Blog named Hero Challenge - May

The kids are back to school this morning after a two week break so I can look forward to very exhausted children at 3pm today. They aren't looking forward to school but I know that will change once they see their friends and get back into the swing of things. The early mornings are the hard part for all of us, only 11 more weeks till we can sleep in for two weeks again.........

Take care
Shona
