Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge # 188

Hi everybody and welcome to another challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More. For this weeks theme we want you to create something for the Holidays!

Our Sponsor for this challenge is A Day for Daisies and they will be giving a $12.00 Gift Certificate to the winner. Yippee!!

After discovering last year that I didn't have enough Xmas cards, I'm determined to take every chance during this year to bump up my supply. I also wanted to try out some foil-like CS that I purchased very cheaply after Xmas and have hardly used:

It was so hard to capture the shine of this CS but I think it works so well for a Xmas theme.

I was going to say this was a simple card to make with it being one-layer but it was just a teeny bit fiddly to put together. I die-cut the star from the card front and placed a panel of white CS behind it. I then die-cut the faceted star from some silver and then red foil CS. When I did the silver star, I pressed it on to some Glad 'Press n Seal' so that as I removed the silver frame, I still had the triangles in the star shape.

With the red star, I pressed on some Press n Seal again. After gluing the silver star inlaid into the card, I then spent a bit of time gluing each red triangle into place. I was then able to press the red star frame onto the silver triangles, so can make another card like this but reverse the colours.

To finish off I stamped the sentiment in black and added some clear and red sequins to carry on the shine.

The faceted star die is from Winnie and Walter, as well as the stamps from the set 'The Big, the Bold and the Merry'. The sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh. The foil CS is from Craft Smith 'Holiday Foil'.

I have five other challenges I would like to enter:

  10. Simply blown away by this one Shona, CAS-perfection! Love the simplicity and clean design yet at the same time it's tricky and time-consuming inlaying all those little pieces from the star. It's worked a treat for you and a fabulous take on the challenge at ATCAS. Thanks for playing along. Sarah x

  13. Love this one, Shona. Not seen that star before but it really packs a punch. Love that you've paired it with a simple font and minimal sequins so the star is still the main focus xx
