Just Add Ink Challenge # 297

Why do short weeks always feel like they are extra long??? School went back on Tuesday, so I'm all confused with my days, the kids are tired and only one of them is happy to be back at school. So it seems like its taken years to get to Friday.

Glad to be here though and welcome to another challenge at Just Add Ink.  Firstly I must say thank you so much to everyone who joined the 'Nature' challenge last week. We had so many entries and all of them incredible. Wonderful to see so many people I know and admire too!! This week we have a colour combo to get your creative mind working:

These are such soft and beautiful pastel colours and perfect for us lucky people experiencing very warm weather at the moment. I've still be playing around with a new stamp set and thought it was a good idea to try a bit of water colouring:

I started off by stamping the circular image in a pattern on water colour paper, using Versamark Ink. After heat embossing in white, I started water colouring using Distress Inks: Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and Cracked Pistachio. I played around with them until they were very soft and pale. After drying with my heat gun, I cut the pattern out and adhered to a white square card base.

For the sentiment, I die-cut a circle from vellum and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment in white. I was then able to place small pieces of double-sided tape behind the words, so they wouldn't be seen and adhered over the pattern. A few coordinating sequins gave it a bit more shine.

The sentiment and circular stamps are from Concord and 9th 'Love you. Mean it.'. The sequins are from Neat and Tangled and the circle die is from Couture Creations.

You have until next Wednesday 10th February to link your projects to the Just Add Ink challenge. The rest of the Design Team have some gorgeous creations on the blog to help with any inspiration or ideas. I hope you get the chance to join in and play, and look forward to seeing you in the Gallery!!

Take care
Shona

  1. Hello wonderful, amazing, Shona! Hanging my head in shame at being so behind in commenting; as I mentioned in my recent "poor me" post, life’s been supremely hectic, what with work, travel (which involved work…crazy amounts!), DT commitments (which I’ve fallen behind in, too) and a plethora of other stuff! I hope that my ‘thought bubbles of love’ for all your cards have reached you, because I send them frequently! Starting with a fresh slate with a goal to staying caught up. Your water-coloured circles are sooooo pretty! And how awesome that you're the featured Designer to Case at HLS! Your elephant is beyond darling! With you as our muse, looks like I'll *have* to play along (although I have zippo elephant stamps). Need to get my thinking hat fastened tightly!
Hugs and love coming at you~c
