Reminder: TIME OUT Challenge #115

The sun has finally surfaced here after a few days of rain. This has been the wettest Winter for a few years and even though its warm outside, I can't garden because the ground is like mud. Oh well, more time for house work and card making I suppose.....

Our theme for the current TIME OUT CHALLENGE is 'Food and Drink with optional twist: one-layer card'. There are so many stamps and dies that are food and drink related so can't wait to see all your designs in the Gallery.

Our Sponsor for this challenge is Birch Press Designs and they are giving a $20 voucher to someone who does the optional twist of one-layer. They have the most incredible layering die sets, if you haven't seen them I really encourage you to check them out!!

For my card I went super simple, not quite one-layer but pretty close:

We got a kitten just after Christmas and even though her relationship with our other cat has never been friendly, her friendship with Bella our Golden Retriever is getting closer by the week. Even though Bella loves to chase the cats, she doesn't seem to mind all the smooches and rubs she gets from Minnie, and I often find them sleeping beside each other, so secretly I think they love each other a lot.

For this card I wanted to make it seem like they were at the movies together and that the light from the movie screen is lighting them up in the dark, while they munch on popcorn.

I started off by stamping this image from The Cat's Pajamas 'Just let it Happen' on some Strathmore Bristol Smooth CS, using Versafine black ink and heat embossing with clear powder. I then used my Altenew Artist Markers to colour it in.

The top panel was cut out of black CS and after working out where the image would be on my card front, I die-cut a circle using a die from Couture Creations. The image was adhered to the card front and panel popped up with foam tape. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment (from the same TCP set) with clear powder and put on foam tape, along with Neat and Tangled sequins.

I'm going to link this to the AAA Card Challenge #121 where their theme is 'Friendship'.

You have until Wednesday 15th August to link your projects to the TIME OUT CHALLENGE and if your needing any ideas, pop over to the blog to see what the rest of the DT and our wonderful Guest Designer Susie Moore of Created for Creativity have made to inspire you. Can't wait to see you in the Gallery!!

Take care
Shona

  2. You've chosen the most delicious food in my book. And those darling diecuts. Love them especially with the popcorn. Hope Minnie doesn't drive Bella too crazy.

  3. Love your pets enjoying a movie. Sounds as though Minnie has some winning ways :)
One thing I do like about raised beds and pumice based soil is that I can get out and garden pretty soon after rain, and I have managed a couple of hours out in the gardens this afternoon.

  4. This is so so cute! I love the image you used and the color palette of this is very stylish, I love your use of black card. My dog hates cats so I could never think of taking a cat as my second pet... I'm glad yours are getting along!
