The Flower Challenge # 12

Hi there, hope your week has started out well and you have lots of crafting time planned for this week too!! Its a new month so its time for a new challenge theme at The Flower Challenge! This one is really cool and offers so many possibilities.....

That's right, Tic Tac Toe!! You can do any combination you like as long as its three in a row. So many things to choose from......

I decided to go straight down the middle 'Distress Ink, Watercolour, Die-cuts'. That's a combo I could do forever. It also gave me an excuse to use some new stamps I bought for my birthday:

I'm so excited to finally have some hexagon dies and you will see them popping up quite often over the next few months!

I started off by cutting a panel of white CS the same size as my card front and die-cutting the hexagon from the middle. I worked out where this would sit over the card front and used my mini-blending tool and Distress Ink 'Salty Ocean' to create a soft background. To add a bit of sparkle to it I sprayed it with Imagine Crafts 'Sheer Sparkle Shimmer Spritz' and some flicks of water, which I pressed tissues on to.

The flowers and leaves were stamped on Strathmore Bristol Smooth CS using black Versafine ink and immediately heat embossing with clear powder. I then used Distress Inks 'Picked Raspberry' and 'Mowed Lawn' to water colour them, adding a touch of 'Mustard Seed' to the middle of the flowers. Once dry I fussy cut them out.

To put this all together I added lots of foam tape to the back of the hexagon panel and pressed it in place. I then used foam tape on the back of the flowers and double-sided tape on the leaves. The sentiment was stamped in black Versafine ink and heat embossed with clear powder on a strip of white CS and put on a double row of foam tape. And of course I had to add some clear and pink sequins for a bit more shine.

The stamps are from Hampton Arts. The set doesn't have a name but its one of the new layering sets. Unfortunately I don't know who makes the hexagon die. The sequins are from Neat and Tangled.

I'm going to link this to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Anything Goes'.

You have until Monday 25th September to link your projects to The Flower Challenge and if you want to see some ideas on how to use the 'Tic Tac Toe' chart, pop over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team created. Looking forward to seeing you in the Gallery this month!!

Take care
Shona

  4. The hexagon aperture is really neat - not something I've seen too often, but it's a really nice way to frame those pretty flowers. Perfect! xx
