Simon Says Stamp - Monday Challenge

After a very stormy and windy night, the wind has finally died down and now we are stuck with more rain. At least its not too cold but I've only been able to garden once this week and tomorrow (Friday) isn't looking promising either. The upside is that Phoebe and Max had yesterday off school due to teacher strikes and today/tomorrow are Teacher Only Days for Phoebe, so at least I can do some things with her.

Its also given me a chance to try and get my mojo going again and try a few things out. The other night I sat down and watched a movie on Netflix while cutting thin strips of coloured CS and adhering them to white CS. I was left with three panels and found a few different ways to use them.

I had the idea of framing one of the panels right from the start which was inspired by this weeks Simon Says Stamp - Monday Challenge which has 'Frame it' as their theme:

I really enjoyed putting these rainbow panels together and think I might have to make some more but with different colour combos!!

For this one I decided to use some much older dies that were some of the first ones I ever purchased when I started card making nearly six years ago. I started off by die-cutting the Paper Smooches 'Frames 2' die 3x from white CS and once from black CS. I glued them all together and then to the rainbow panel. This was adhered to a piece of white foam and then to the card front.

I then die-cut the Paper Smooches 'Dainty Flowers' die 3x from white CS, glued them together for dimension and then inside the frame. I wanted the framed image to be the star of the card, so kept the sentiment simple. I used one from the Ellen Hutson 'Over It by Julie Ebersole' stamp set and stamped it with Versafine black ink. To finish off I glued on some pale white and clear sequins from Neat and Tangled.

I did actually toy with the idea of filling in the leaf and flower with Glossy Accents for a 'stained glass' look but was worried how it would effect the CS underneath it. Will have to do a mock test to experiment as I think it would look pretty cool!

I'm also going to link this to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Anything Goes'.

The rain has stopped for a moment so might take Bella out for a quick walk. We got caught in a downpour the other day which wasn't very pleasant, thank goodness I had started the fire before I left. Might do the same now just to be on the safe side....

Take care
Shona
