Hi there everyone and welcome to Day 3 of the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps August New Release!! I hope you've enjoyed the last two days and I'm sure you will love the next two sets we have to show you as well.
So, for Day 3 we are introducing 'Mermaids':
With mermaids being very popular at the moment, I'm sure these will become a favourite with many of you. Their design is so clever and I love the bubbly font too. Its such a fantastic set!!
I'm not one for creating scenes very often with my card designs, just because I've seen so many incredible cards created with characters etc my confidence level is very low. However, I really wanted to make a nice home for these mermaids under the sea and give them somewhere to feel comfortable:
Rocks, how was I going to create rocks??? That was the first thing I thought of with this card but after I worked that out I had so much fun making it!
Firstly I stamped the two mermaids twice with Versafine Black ink using my MISTI to make sure I had good coverage. I then took some time to fussy cut them out and went round the edges with a black pen.
I used my mini-blending tool and Distress Inks 'Mermaid Lagoon' and 'Salty Ocean' to make the watery background to 3/4 of the card front. For the sand I used my mini-blending tool and Waffle Flower 'Coffee Loves Milk'. I got all 'arty' with the rocks by just cutting shapes out of white CS with scissors while imaging a rock. Talk about genius...lol.... For the colour I used my mini-blending tool again with Mama Elephant 'Smoke'. I also used the MISTI to stamp the starfish, shells and seaweed and fussy cut them all.
To put this all together I adhered the rocks in place first and then the seaweed, shells and starfish over top. The mermaids were put on foam tape, as well as the starfish and shell held in their hands. I used Distress Ink 'Salty Ocean' to stamp the bubbles and then Versafine Black ink to stamp the sentiment on the card front. I also glued on some clear sequins from our Sistahood Sparkle Sequin Mix by Pretty Pink Posh and a Kaisercraft Glitter Gel Pen in Blue to add a pearl to the clam shell.
So, what do you think? Is this another stamp set to add to your shopping list for Friday 4th August (Release Day)?? Make sure you note down my special code to save yourself some money on your order!!
