WPlus9 - Throwback Thursday Challenge

What an amazing weekend I had with my Mum. We watched lots of old movies while I crafted my heart out. I managed to make 9 cards in 24hrs. That's huge for me and I'm so excited to get them on my blog. I tried all sorts of techniques that I never have time to play with and stamps that hadn't been used, so it was a huge success!!

One of the blogs I follow is the WPlus9 Design Blog. I love their products and drool over each release wishing I could buy it all. Last week there was a post about their Thursday Throwback Challenge. Its a chance for you to get out some old WPlus9 stamps and/or dies and create with them again.

I was very lucky last year to win a set of stamps (with matching dies). Its a floral set that I just love but to be honest, floral sets sometimes scare me (which is silly since I'm such a passionate gardener, especially with my roses and perennials) so its never been used. This was my chance to take the plunge, stamp and die-cut the whole set and see what happens. I was pleasantly surprised:

Just like when I pick flowers from my garden, I stamped each flower and leaf, die-cut them all and then played with the arrangement. Once I was happy, I used double-sided tape to attach the watering can to the card and then glue to layer the flowers/leaves. I stamped the sentiment in black and added a little Wink of Stella to the highlighted parts of the flowers.

My fear of the flowers has disappeared and I'm so going to use this set again and again!! The set is called 'Fresh Cut Containers' and the matching die set matches the stamps perfectly. The sentiment stamp is from Fiskars 'Hexagon Sentiments'.

Since I've made such bright and beautiful flowers, I'm going to link this to the Mod Squad Challenge where their theme is 'Spring Forward'. They are looking forward Spring inspired projects.

I will also link to the The Card Concept Challenge # 29, in the 'Clean and Simple' category. I kept the colours in the photo in mind when I coloured my flowers. Their theme is:

And I'm also going to link to the Less is More Challenge - Week # 213. Their theme is for you to make a project that contains something that you can say 'This makes me happy'. My garden always makes me happy and also overcoming a fear feels pretty good too!

Two more cards to post and then I can catch up on some of my millions of emails. I probably shouldn't follow so many blogs but there are so many amazing designers out there that inspire me everyday. And its a great way to find out about new products or challenges. Its going to be a long night but at least I can never say 'I'm bored'......

Take care
Shona
