Just Add Ink Challenge #229

I can never resist a rainbow, so when I saw the photo inspiration at the Just Add Ink   challenge, I really had to play along:

Now I didn't want to do a 'rainbow' exactly, so I decided to play around with the colours themselves. You'll never believe how my card turned out:

Talk about crazy 'rainbowness'!! I started with the idea of using a circle stamp and stamping the colours from the bottom left of the card. I got half-way across the card and decided to sleep on my ideas first as I wasn't sure what to do.

Well, last night I decided to carry the rainbow across the rest of the card. I then  spent what seemed like HOURS, die-cutting the circles out of another piece of cardstock. I then spent what seemed like TWO YEARS cutting out millions of tiny pieces of foam tape to pop my circles up.

I wanted a bold sentiment and thought gold would be perfect. The only problem is that I'm still learning with regards to heat embossing and its very stippled. Not sure what I'm doing wrong....any tips you have would be fantastic! A scattering of gold sequins and my crazy rainbow card was done. Talk about colourful!

The circle stamp is from Couture Creations. The metal die is from Pretty Pink Posh. The sentiment and sequins are from Neat and Tangled.

Because this is a new type of card design for me and something I've wanted to try for a few weeks now, I'm going to enter this card into the challenge at Simply Create Too! #69 where their theme is 'Show us Something New'.

I'm also going to enter this into the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Anything Goes'. This is my fourth entry.

Have one more card to post and think I will crawl into bed early tonight. Spent 3 hours pruning roses for a friend today and have scratches all up my arms. Roses are painful but so worth it!!!

Take care

Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge #110

What a glorious day I had today. I spent four hours with Phoebe's class at the riverbank, planting tree's to beautify and help the river area. We walked there from the school (which only took 25 mins), had a picnic lunch and then spent 2 hours planting more than 300 native tree's. I was worried the kids wouldn't want to do the hard work of digging holes etc but it turned into a competition to see who could plant the most and they loved it!

Will be so wonderful to walk past this area and watch the tree's grow, knowing we planted them ourselves.

This week for the Addicted to Stamps and More   challenge they have the most beautiful photo for inspiration:
Such an amazing photo, I don't really think I can do it any justice. I decided I needed to make something incredibly simple and soft.

I found this amazing wood-grain paper which I thought would be perfect. I was trying to work out how I could represent the curves in her skirt when it suddenly hit me to use my curve-stitched die. This way the stitching in the card would be like the stitching in the skirt fabric. After stamping the sentiment, I popped this white card up on foam squares over the wood-grain. A few enamel dots, sequins and some Wink of Stella in the sentiment heart and I left it at that. Maybe its too simple but now seeing it underneath the photo, I can definitely see the inspiration.

The woodgrain paper is from American Crafts 'Dear Lizzy - Poka Dot Party'. The enamel dots are from Papervine, the sequins from Neat and Tangled and I used a metal stitched-curved die from Pretty Pink Posh.

I was extremely lucky a few weeks ago to win a stamp set (of my choice) from Neat and Tangled thru a Curtain Call giveaway. I didn't have any of their products so took the chance to order two other stamp sets and some of their sequins. Danielle was so lovely to deal with and sent them off straight away and even popped in a few other sequin colours. I LOVE the stamps and can't wait to show you more of them. This sentiment is from the 'Kindness Matters' stamp set.

I'm also going to link this card to the challenge at Virginia's View #7 where their theme is:

And will also link to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge  where their theme is 'Anything Goes'. This is my third entry.

Sorry this is such a wordy post. Wish I could describe what I mean in a shorter way, something for me to work on. Have two cards I want to get finished tonight so better get a wriggle on!

Take care

The Card Concept Challenge #17

I've seen so many cards entered into the challenge this week at The Card Concept. All of them amazing and so inspiring, I decided I would give it a go.
This bedroom is stunning!! All that crisp, modern white with the fluttering of the green. I got a bit lost on this one as I don't have any ink pads anywhere near this colour.  And after searching through all of my piles of papers, I only found one small piece that was what I wanted.

I did something very different with this card. When going thru my emails, I came across a post on the Simon Says Stamp blog here. The ever-wonderful Laura Bassen created a card with a similar frame, blended inks and die-cut flowers and I loved it so much, I decided to CASE it for this challenge.

I created a smaller piece of cardstock and die-cut the frame in the middle. After rounding the corners I popped it up on some foam tape above my piece of lime paper. I die-cut 'love' three times from white cardstock and stuck them all together, for some height. I glued this into the middle of the frame and gave it a lick of Wink of Stella and some Glossy Accents.

I really wanted to somehow represent the bedhead into this but didn't have any silver enamel dots to go around the frame (I tried with clear rhinestones but it looked like it had just stepped off a plane from Las Vegas!) so held back and added only three at the bottom.

I'm very happy with how it turned out and should use this frame more often. Thank you Laura for your brilliant ideas and inspiration!!

I'm going to put this into the 'Clean and Graphic' category, hopefully I got that right!!!!

The 'love' metal die is from Paper Smooches. The lime paper is from Echo Park 'Everyday Eclectic' and the rhinestones from Kaisercraft.

Will link this card also to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is the ever-popular 'Anything Goes'. This is my second entry.

Just one more thing before I run off to create some more. Yesterday I mentioned that my daughter Phoebe had grabbed a photo frame and asked if she could decorate it. Of course I told her to 'go for gold' and she had a wonderful time. She wanted me to share it with you all:
This was 100% all her idea and I'm just so proud of her! The only thing I helped with was showing her how to get the pictures to all stay put in their boxes. She certainly has been quietly taking in all the different things she see's me create and naturally knows how to balance it all out.

She was asking about starting her own blog today and just yesterday received a comment from the daughter of a friend I've made after following her blog. She is also 9yrs old, so must ask her Mum how she went about doing that.

Whew! Sorry about all that. I am a bit of a talker, just be glad your not sitting here with me having to hear me go on and on and on........

Take care
