Waffle Flower Challenge

Sometimes when I'm wandering through blogland, I'll see a challenge and I'm not be able to get it out of my head until I sit down and play with the ideas. This is what happened when I saw the photo for the Waffle Flower Challenge.

This pillow is so beautiful, I just knew I would have to attempt some water colouring (eeekkk!) but I also hadn't realised (until I looked closer) that there were also triangle patterns beneath the colour. Well, my mind went into overdrive with this detail and I couldn't wait to sit down and play.

I'm sorry this isn't the best photo. I hadn't thought too much about trying to photograph this when I was creating it....trying to capture that pale colour was a nightmare.....but worth it!

I started out by die-cutting the rectangle panel from white CS. I then stamped the triangle pattern and heat embossed in white. I took three distress inks (Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers and Shaded Lilac), gently blended them with a wet brush and brushed the stripes until I reached the right shade. I stamped the sentiment in grey ink and popped the panel on some foam tape.

The triangle stamps and sentiment are from Altenew 'Sohcahtoa'. I don't own any Waffle Flower Stamps but got an email from May Park on Friday to say that I won a stamp set from a giveaway at Xmas. Isn't she lovely to have held on to it for this long?? And how did I not see my name on that post?? The joy of the Xmas rush I suppose. So now I just need to decide which set and will be able to use them on a future Waffle Flower Challenge.

Since I've created yet another birthday card, I'm going to link this to the Uniko Studio Challenge # 18 where their theme is 'Birthday'.

And will also link to the Showcase your Style Challenge # 9 where their theme is also:

As I've done some embossing on this card, I will also enter the Virginia's View Challenge # 13 where their theme is:

And this will be my last entry to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Anything Goes'.

I think this is the most serene and peaceful card I have ever made. I'm going to keep it beside my computer for those moments when my head is going to explode with lists of things to do. Can imagine I will be staring at it quite often..........

Take care
Shona
