Time Out Challenge # 33

Another fortnight has flown by, which means its time for another challenge at TIME OUT. Our challenge theme is to be inspired by the words:

Happy is the bride that the sun shines on

Its totally up to you how you are inspired by this sentence. Maybe you just pick out one word or maybe go with a wedding theme. Surprise us with your creativity!!

The Guest Designer for this challenge is the amazing Sue from Sue's Card Craft. Her cards are so pretty and delicate. And she is a CAS girl after my own heart. I really encourage you to pop over to her blog to take a look, you will not be disappointed.

I knew this challenge would be fun because I don't make wedding related cards very often (in fact I think I've only ever made two....) so was nice to add a few more to my repertoire:

For the life of me I just couldn't come up with a wedding card that incorporated the sun, so decided to go with the shape of the sun instead.

I used a floral stamp from Altenew 'Hennah Elements' and heat embossed it on white CS in gold and on vellum in white. I used scissors to fussy cut them both out. After I worked out the placement, I heat embossed the flower in silver on the card front. I used double-sided tape to adhere the vellum flower and then foam tape to pop up the gold flower. A sentiment (from the same Altenew stamp set) was stamped in black and I decided to add no embellies. I love this stamp set, the images are all gorgeous!!

I'm also going to link this card to the CASology Challenge Week # 150 where their theme is 'Graduation'. When I was thinking about the cue word, I wanted to use another form of 'graduating' and I kept thinking about graduating to adulthood. Getting married has always been seen as a 'grown-up' thing to do and that you finally becoming an adult. Hopefully this makes sense!

You have two weeks to link your cards to the TIME OUT challenge and I can't wait to see where your imagination takes you. And of course the rest of the Design Team have created some incredible cards to give you some inspiring ideas. Hope to see you in the Gallery!!

Take care

Addicted to Stamps Challenge # 148

Another week has flown by which means its time for another challenge at Addicted to Stamps.  The theme for this weeks challenge is:

                                                         HOLIDAY

Our sponsor for this challenge is Stitchy Bears Digital Stamp Outlet and they are offering a prize of 3 images up to the value of $10 for the winner. How fabulous is that!!!!

When I think holiday cards, my mind usually goes straight to Christmas but I was playing around with one of my dies and realised I could get a jump-start on Valentines for next year:

I started with a kraft card base and cut a panel of white CS to fit the middle of the card. I then die-cut the heart 4x with red cardstock. The die is from CAS-ual Fridays and cuts 5 different sizes of hearts at one time. I layered the larger hearts so they all met in the middle and then added the smaller ones on the inside. After die-cutting a small circle from vellum, I heat embossed the sentiment (from Simon Says Stamps 'Only have eyes for you') in white. I put double-sided tape in small strips behind the wording so you couldn't see it. The panel was then adhered to the card front. Just realised I didn't use any foam tape.....wow!!

Will link to the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge # 140 where their theme is to use white, tan and one bright colour. Hopefully my kraft CS will pass as tan.....

You have one week to link your entries for the Addicted to Stamps  challenge and I can't wait to see what wonderful 'Holiday' cards you come up with. And of course the rest of the Design Team have created some amazing cards on the blog to help inspire you. See you in the Gallery!

Showcase your Style Challenge # 16

I love movies, especially horror movies. My Mum has always watched them so I grew to love them too. Whenever I go and stay with her for the weekend, I usually rent some dvd's of the latest horror releases so we can sit and be scared together!!

This inspiration photo for the Showcase your Style challenge certainly gives you many ideas on what to create for a card (don't worry, it doesn't have monsters on it.....) but I decided to go with film itself as I love the black/white colour combo:

I don't have any 'film' related stamps or dies but I thought this die from Pretty Pink Posh kind of looked like a film strip, so tried it out. I die-cut it six times from black CS and arranged it on the card front. I added double-sided tape to the back of each one and adhered to the card, cutting off any over-hanging bits. I die-cut a circle from white CS and heat embossed the sentiment in gold. The circle was then popped up on foam tape. I also die-cut a few tiny hearts from gold CS.

The sentiment stamp is from This and That by Grace Taylor. The tiny heart dies are from Paper Smooches and the circle die from Couture Creations.

Its 1am Tuesday morning and time for bed. Usually takes me a while to go to sleep that by the time I close my eyes, its suddenly time to get up again. Wish I could add the odd hour to my sleep every now and again to catch up!!
