Our current theme at TIME OUT is 'Bright' which is something I don't usually think about when making my cards, so I knew this one would be fun!
Our Sponsor for this challenge is Happy Little Stampers and they are giving the winner a $20 voucher to spend in their store!!
I really wanted to use one of my new dies for this card and for some bizarre reason I kept thinking of 'watermelon' for bright colours:
What do you think?? Does it remind you of a watermelon?? My seeds are a bit odd but I think you get the idea.... I'm really happy with how it turned out, makes me smile every time I look at it!
I used some bright green CS with the Your Next Stamp 'Sunburst Panel Die' and also die-cut again with white CS. I added lots of double-sided tape to a piece of white CS and adhered to the back of the green panel, this gave me somewhere to inlay the 'watermelon' pieces.
Using a mini-blending tool and Distress Inks 'Picked Raspberry' and 'Worn Lipstick' I coloured the insert pieces (from white CS), trying to mimic the colouring of a watermelon with it getting more pale towards the outside. I inlaid them all and then drew on some 'seeds' with my new Black Glaze Pen (which I bought from YNS).
I put a piece of white foam behind the green panel and adhered to the card front. The sentiment (from YNS 'One in a Melon') was stamped with Versafine black ink and clear heat embossed on white CS. I fussy cut it out and put on foam tape, along with some black pearls.
I'm going to link this to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Food/Drink'.
And will also link to the Stamplorations Summer Vacation Cutplorations Challenge where their theme is 'Anything Goes'.
Take care
Shona
wow I think it is amazing and really does look like a water melon-you sure did get that blending paler to the edge to perfection! I will be eating these in a week when I hit Greece-they taste so much better there and I will remember this card then-super card, I love it x
ReplyDeleteLove this so much! The inking is absolutely fabulous!
ReplyDeleteGlad the drenching rain didn't stop you from making this card. I love watermelon and the ink blending on this looks exactly like it. Colorful and sweet. You have nailed it again.
ReplyDeleteI think the true "bright" thing here is YOU for thinking watermelon when you looked at this die. FANTASTIC. It certainly does look like watermelon, and the seeds are perfect. Love this card.
