I'm back with another entry for the Share the Love Week with Pinkfresh Studio Challenge. This time I was inspired by this card by the fabulous Lydia Evans:
I really love the way Lydia created the background with just stamps and black ink, and the yellow strip alongside really pops against it. So I grabbed my stamps and some grey ink and this is what I came up with:
I decided to try out Lydia's background idea using grey ink on a white CS panel. I then found this gorgeous yellow patterned paper that had grey and white, and images similar to my stamping. This was adhered to the card front and then the panel on top. The star was die-cut from a pink paint chip and a solid star die-cut as well from white CS. The solid star was adhered to the back to keep the faceted pieces in place. I removed a few of them quickly before the glue dried. The star was popped up on foam tape, some sequins added and the sentiment attached as well.
The patterned paper is from Simply Creative 'Folk Song'. The floral stamps are from Winnie and Walter 'In Bloom:Lola's Bouquet with Joni Andaya'. The faceted star die is also from Winnie and Walter, as well as the sentiment from the 'The Big, the Bold and the Happy' stamp set. The sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh.
I'm going to link this to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Happy Birthday'.
And will also link to the Seize the Birthday Challenge where their 'Topping' is 'Floral'.
This week has gone by so fast and only one more week till the school holidays begin. The kids are really looking forward to it and I can't wait for no rushing around in the mornings. Not sure what we will do yet but I'm sure I will entertain the kids some how!!
Take care
Shona
