Featured Designer for The Challenge # 45 (a sketch)
I've been counting down to this day for weeks, ever since the fabulous Kim Heggins (from The Challenge Design Team) asked if I would like to be their Featured Designer for October. Of course I replied immediately, and said a great, big YES!!! So thank you to Kim and the rest of the DT for having me over the next four weeks, its an honour to be part of your team!!
This is the brilliant sketch we have for you at The Challenge this week. You can turn it around if you wish and use whatever products you like, which leads to endless possibilities of designs!
I'll be honest, I had a few ideas for the sketch and they all failed miserably. But then my seed beads arrived from The Ton and I knew a shaker card was about to happen:
I started this off by cutting a strip of patterned paper and adhering it to the card front. I then cut a stitched-circle frame from white CS for the shaker window and a full stitched circle for the back. I adhered some acetate to the inside of the window, added lots of foam tape and made a big pile of seed beads and silver stars on the back circle. The window was carefully placed over the top and the shaker was sealed.
I die-cut the 'happy' from a mint coloured paint chip and glued it to the top of the shaker. I then fussy cut the 'birthday' which was heat embossed in silver and glued it to the shaker as well. Some double sided tape was added to the back of the shaker to hold it on the card front. So much mint yumminess!!!!!
The patterned paper is from Rosie's Studio 'Day Dreamer'. The 'happy' die is from Whimsy Stamps, as well as the 'birthday' stamp from the set 'Happy Everything'. The circle dies are from Waffle Flower 'Flower Circle set'. The seed beads are from The Ton and the silver star sequins from Papervine.
I have two challenges I would like to enter:
Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge (Anything Goes)
Seize the Birthday Challenge (No Topping)
This is a one-week challenge and will end on Sunday 11th October at Noon (PST). And if your needing any help in the 'inspiration department', please pop over to The Challenge blog to see what the Design Team have created for you. I really hope you have a chance to join in and can't wait to see you in the Gallery!!
Take care
Shona
