I suddenly realised something this morning. Back on 31st December Kylie Purtell did a post for the Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge Blog introducing the Design Team for 2015. I'm very excited to say that my name was part of that list!!! Was so happy when Kylie emailed me to be part of the team as I've always loved the challenge. Its also amazing because there are so many incredible designers on the DT, so I'm sure I will learn a lot from them too! My first challenge is in a few weeks so watch this space......
When I first saw this cue word for the CASology challenge, I immediately thought of a board game I loved as a kid, Mystery Date. Does anyone else remember that one??
However (as usual) my mind wandered from the more normal use of the word.....
When was the last time you ate a date?? I loved them as a kid but haven't tried one for years. Did you know that dates grew on palm tree's?? They hang down in huge bunches. So this palm is a 'date' palm.
Please don't laugh at my colouring. I purchased my first ever water-colour pencils on Sunday and have been playing with them ever since. I need a lot more practice!!!!
For this card I basically stamped the sand, the 'date' palm and the sentiment in black ink. I then set to work with my pencils. I decided not to go over the colour with water as I tend to lose definition. And that, as they say, was that!!!
The sand and palm stamps are from Lawn Fawn 'Life is Good' and the sentiment from Hero Arts (unfortunately I don't know the name of the set, was purchased second hand).
Will link this as my second entry into Darnell's NBUS Challenge # 3 as I haven't used this Lawn Fawn set before.
I'm also going to link to the Virginia's View Challenge # 11 where their theme is:
And will also link to the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Anything new', like my Lawn Fawn set!!
I also just wanted to mention a blog post at Create a Smile. Anni gave a step-by-step tutorial on colouring with pencils. It couldn't have come at a better time for me and was so helpful. If anyone else needs help with their pencil colouring, please click on the link above. And if you haven't visited their blog before, you can check out their gorgeous stamps and other products.
Take care
Shona

ReplyDeleteShona, I love this CAS card...and so many "date" references in one card! Awesome! Thanks for joining in the fun at CASology!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love fresh dates and this card! A good pun never goes astray, I say! Colouring is awesome too. Fantastic interpretation of the cue word! Thanks for playing along at CASology this week! PS. Need to find The Mystery Date game. Think I missed something in my childhood!
ReplyDeleteHey Shona!!! First, I've never heard of that game. I'm going to Google it. Its sounds fun. Second, I totally love your card. I've eaten a date only once and it was ok, nothing to brag about. The funny thing is when saw your card, I said "I wish I was on a date under that tree, on that little island right now." So your card has two different interpretations. I love it. Thank you so much for joining us this week at CASology.
ReplyDeleteAdorable CAS card!! Very sweet!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for joining us this week at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog!
hugs...
Melissa

ReplyDeleteISo clever your take on the cue word! And watercolouring scared me at the beginning, even if I did it a lot at school, but now I am enjoing it so much (and allmost every time I am drawning things to complete the stamp... Have a fun week, Gerrina
