Time Out Challenge #10

Last night I dragged all my craft supplies to be in front of the tv so I could watch the latest 'House of Cards' and a few other programmes. I realised that I need to stop watching good tv when crafting as I get so engrossed in the story that I forget what I'm doing. This is why after 3 hours last night I only had one card to show for it!!

This is the amazing inspiration photo for the Time Out Challenge this week. I LOVE the stripe colour on the walls, those white windows are so criss-crossy, the banner is so festive and I love the chevron pattern pillow in the teepee. So many things to choose from I thought it would be a good excuse to use some patterned paper and live a little with my design.
Rummaging through my drawers I came across this polaroid die cut in the most perfect colour and I could also make it into a shaker card too! I found some gorgeous banner paper and some background paper that had the same colour as the walls.

After spending what seemed an eternity trying to get the sequins to stay put (anyone have any tips for this, they just want to stick to me all the time???) I stuck everything together and even did some heat embossing for the sentiment. Rather festive indeed and so much more going on than my usual card designs.

The banner paper is from Lawn Fawn 'Into the Woods', the background paper from Teresa Collins 'Family Stories'. The sentiment is from Hero Arts 'Year Round Sentiments' and sequins from Studio Calico at Papervine.

I'm also going to link to the challenge this week at AAA Cards #13 where their theme is:

More washing to go out and then need to look at my bank accounts. Oh the joy of robbing Paul to pay Mary etc to keep everyone paid and happy. Sometimes I wish we went back to the days where people exchanged maybe some baking in return for getting their oil changed etc. That would be so much easier as I have way more cakes and cards lying around these days than dollars!

Take care
Shona

  5. Very cool design Shona and you can really see so many elements from the photo. I have the same problem with sequins, it drives me mad, they end of all over the place! Thanks for joining us at TIME OUT

  10. Shona...you are so funny! I love your new system with regard to money and how to pay our bills. Life would be so much easier right? Can you just imagine sending in a dozen cookies for a few stamp sets? so much fun. Your card is shear perfection my sweet friend...I love that banner paper and am happy to say I have some of that in my stash! I love the pastel sequins and I too have the same issue you have with sequins sticking to me like glue. Hope someone will share the trick to making them more user friendly. Again, fabulous card and enjoy your week!

  11. HoC would do that to you indeed ;) I usually have something playing while I'm crafting because otherwise it's too quiet in the basement but some shows/movies are definitely too good to stay focused ;)

  13. Shona- whata fun post! Your card is incredible! And best of luck with the other challenge- you look like a shoe in! Shaker's are harder to make and take more time- but it's the skill we are perfecting- and you're doing pretty good! hugs, Victoria AAA Cards
