The Flower Challenge #31

Hi everybody! I can't believe April is here already and all of a sudden the cold weather has started too, which is even more horrible. I shouldn't complain though, this has been the best Summer EVER and the warm weather lasted much longer than usual so I guess the 'winter chills' had to arrive at some stage....

For The Flower Challenge this month we have this sketch to inspire you. It can be turned around, even used up-side down, its totally up to you!!

I tend to have a love/hate relationship with sketches. Sometimes I can just look at it and come up with an idea straight away. Other times (like this one) I get so stuck on the sketch itself, the ideas don't flow. So.....I turned to my patterned paper stash for some inspiration:

So strange seeing patterned paper on one of my cards. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE patterned paper and have a drawer filled to the brim with 6x6 paper pads. For some reason though I never think to use them or feel like using them is like cheating. Anyway, its nice to have a change from the usual fair...

I started by stamping the flowers and leaves from The Stamp Market 'Bloom with Hope' and fussy cutting out. I then cut two strips of paper (as in the sketch) from Pinkfresh Studio 'Felicity'. The larger strip was adhered to the card front and the smaller one was popped on some white foam. The leaves were glued to it and the two flowers put on foam tape.

The sentiment (from The Stamp Market 'Framed Floral') was stamped in red ink on some white CS, adhered to some red CS and a frame created. This was put on foam tape, along with some sequins from Neat and Tangled.

You have until Thursday 25th April to link your projects to The Flower Challenge and if you need any inspiration with the sketch, pop over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have created for you. We will be back on the 15th April with some more cards and ideas. Look forward to seeing you in the Gallery!

Take care
Shona

  3. Shona, I also like DSP but in my case, I have a hard time using them on my cards, it's a bit difficult to mix and match it.
But I'm so glad you got out of your comfort zone with this papers, they look just beautiful as a background for your sweet flowers, love the color combination too.
    Awesome card, teammate.

  4. Not to worry, I also feel like using patterned paper is kinda like cheating and, yes, I have oodles, too. But the way you used it on your card inspires me, greatly. The color and pattern combos are put together so beautifully it makes the card feel and look extraordinary. It is just beautiful.

  5. I have tons of patterned paper that I love but do so many CAS cards that I forget I can use it on other ones. Your combination looks fantastic, Shona.
