Reminder: Time Out Challenge # 92

Hello there from a very wet Blenheim, New Zealand!! We had one day of reprieve yesterday from four days of constant rain and now its back for the next few days. Talk about Spring madness!!

I'm popping in with a reminder about our current TIME OUT  challenge where we have these words to inspire you:

Paint The Flying Spirit Of The Birds Rather than its Feathers

A rather fabulous phrase don't you think!! You can use anything from this phrase to inspire you i.e. a single word, the meaning of a word or how your inspired by what the phrase means etc.

We are also very excited to have Happy Little Stampers as the Sponsor of this challenge and the winner will get a $15 gift voucher!!

For my card the words 'Birds' and 'Feathers' really caught my eye so I really wanted to have them feature in my design:

I've had this stamp set from Rosies Studio for years and I think this is the first time I've used it. And it couldn't be more perfect!!

I started off by stamping the single feather image randomly on the card front using grey ink to create a background. Because the phrase talked about not painting a birds feathers I wanted them to be grey and uncoloured.

The bird image was stamped on white CS and coloured with my Faber Castell pencils. For some reason I just wanted to use blue and teal on the bird and just made up the pattern as I went along. Kind of reminds me of a Hummingbird or Kingfisher. I fussy cut it out and added foam tape to its back.

For the sentiment I found some light grey CS and die-cut using a a die from MFT Stamps 'Blueprint 27' to give it a fishtail look on one end. This was adhered to the card front and the bird over top on its foam tape. And I found some pink, teal and clear sequins from Neat and Tangled to finish it off!!

I have two challenges I would like to enter:

Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge (Pop it up - like my bird on foam tape)

Stamplorations Summer Theme and Sketch Challenge

You have until Wednesay 27th September to link your projects to the TIME OUT challenge and if your struggling for ideas, pop over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team and our gorgeously fabulous Guest Designer Carol have created just for you. Look forward to seeing your designs in the Gallery!!

Take care

  2. Your weather sounds like ours...rainy, cold and the first snowflakes are beginning to flutter. I think we're returning to warmer temperatures on the weekend; fingers crossed, as I'm nowhere near ready for winter! Such a pretty card, Shona...the feathery background is perfect for your pretty bird! Blue, teal, grey and a pop of pink: a lovely combination!
