If you haven't seen my HISTK blog posts before, it's myself and some card making friends who take turns every few months to send an envelope filled with identical card-making goodies to each of us and we then show off what we have made. Its so much fun and a good way to try out different products without buying them yourself!! Our 'Hostess' for this kit is the incredible Anita of Neet and Crafty, here is what she sent us:

Reversible coloured card from stash
I certainly didn't have any problems coming up with some card designs and have so much left over. Okay, here we go!!
For this card I kept it very CAS so that the coloured images could be the stars!! I simply coloured the ball and girl with my pencils. I fussy cut the ball and adhered it to the card front which had been blended with Distress Ink 'Salty Ocean'. I fussy cut the girl as well and put her and the sentiment from the kit on foam tape. I added the gems from the kit and put some Glossy Accents on her glasses for a bit of shine!
For my second card I used the coloured CS from the kit. I die cut them both using Waffle Flower 'Lacy Flower Mats' and adhered them to the card front. I used lots of Wink of Stella on the middle flower and then put the fussy cut (pencil coloured) crab image on top with foam tape. I put the kit sentiment on foam tape as well, along with some similar coloured sequins from Neat and Tangled.
This one was took a bit of time to put together but so happy with the final scene. I watercoloured the palm and flamingo using Distress Inks. While they dried I used the MFT Stamps 'Sun Rays' die and Distress Ink 'Mustard Seed' to create the background. I blended with the stencil first and then blended again gently over top to add a soft yellow glow. The first wave was adhered to the card front, the flamingo added in and then the other wave over top. I tucked in the palm tree and popped the kit sentiment on foam tape. A few blue and clear sequins from Avery Elle gave it some shine and covered up a mis-hap with the flamingo's eye (the gel pen dot for the eye didn't dry, I smudged it everywhere, hence the sequins and googly eye....).
For my final card I tried to make a tropical scene that looked delicious as well!! I coloured all these images with my pencils and fussy cut them out. I adhered the palm first, the flowers on top and then the cocktail on foam tape. I coloured the 'cheers' die-cut with one of my blue Altenew markers and then glued on the card, along with some gems.
I could have made so many more cards but this post would have gone on all night!!! So will save them for another day!! Thanks so much Anita for creating such an incredible kit, you totally outdid yourself!
Now you've seen what I created, you can now go and see what the other girls made:
Thanks so much for stopping by and well done getting to the end of this long post!! I'm off to see what fantastic projects the girls have made. I'm always amazed how different our cards are even though we all used the same products!
Take care
Shona
You've worked your magic with this kit to perfection as always Shona. So many stunning ideas, loving all your inky blending and the crab is just my favourite image with his cute/cheeky facial expression. You've made him take centre stage against those mats and he's fab. Your flamingo scene is wonderful - so much detail and love how he's between the waves. Great ideas. Have a fun weekend x
ReplyDeleteOh, how much fun are these!?!? Aren't the colours so dreamy? I love that little crab too, and love him on that super pink mat! Looks like he has leapt out of a gorgeous pink puddle! Nice work with the googly eye too on your flamingo card! Wouldn't have guessed you were improvising! ;-) Awesome balance with the delicious tropical one too. I stuffed up the colouring of one of those hibiscus, so had to abandon the card idea I had for that one - Love how you have positioned those elements. And finally, that sweet little girl with her cool shades is adorable. I am saving her for another project! SO clever - all of them! SO lovely to visit!! Enjoy your weekend! The weather here actually feels a bit like the mood these gorgeous cards convey.
ReplyDeleteHeavens to Betsy (see how old I am). What you've done with this kit is phenomenal. I think magic was used to get all those elements in one envelope...but your skill certainly made it worth the postage. You've employed so many different techniques it's like walking through an art gallery. And we should talk about how amazing your coloring has gotten. I'm in awe. This just proves how much you've stretched yourself. You talent and excellent eye for color is showing up nicely.
ReplyDeleteToo darn cute...so in love with each and everyone of your fabulous cards. But that crab with the flip flops is just about as fun as can be. They are all so much fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm here, so sorry for the late visit. Had my mum staying with me so this weekend has been a bit manic. Wow, Shona, these are all terrific. Firstly, your central blending deserves applause, I usually start from a corner as I usually make a big mess when I start centrally! lol Loving the girl and ball card, your fussy cutting is fabulous and the images just pop off that blue background. I love that your crab has his very own pink lily pad! The pinks and corals just work so well on that card. Your flamingo scene with the sun rays is so summery, the googly eye really give it some character (intentional or not!) And the cluster of summer images under that palm tree just make me want to dive in to that cocktail. Again, the blue background really makes the images pop. So glad you had fun with this kit, and completely brilliant makes xx
