Virginia's View Challenge # 13

Why do I keep coming up with complicated and fiddly ideas for my cards?? I find it hard enough sometimes thinking about the design without having to work out how to make it all happen. Maybe I just like pushing myself to see what I can come up with, always striving for something new. Whatever the reason, this one is a real doozy but so worth it!

I love embossing, especially heat embossing. So when I saw the Virginia's View Challenge this month, I knew I needed to try something new.

I was flicking through a paper pad the other day (My Minds Eye 'Fancy That') which is filled with gold highlights amongst the patterns. It looks so beautiful. It got me thinking about whether I could emboss half of a shape and stamp the other. Well.......

Turns out it takes a long time (and a lot of patience) but it is possible!! It actually turned out just like I had hoped and I'm really interested to hear what you think.

After die-cutting the circles out of white CS, I used some washi tape to cover one half of the heart stamp. I stamped it in Versamark, removed the washi and then stamped on the circle. It was heat embossed with gold and left to dry. This was repeated on all the circles. I then inked the other half of the heart stamp and carefully stamped beside the gold. To make sure it was really opaque I stamped it twice.Any ink that went on the gold was easily removed with a paper towel.

After all the hearts were done, they were all popped up on foam tape on the card front. I cut a strip of vellum and heat embossed the sentiment in white. Little spots of Glossy Accents were put behind the embossing (so it didn't show thru the vellum) and this was stuck over the circles. A few little enamel dots and my experiment was finished!

The heart stamp is from Lawn Fawn 'Woodgrain Backdrops'. The sentiment is from Neat and Tangled 'Kindness Matters' and the enamel dots from Papervine.

Since I've used a Neat and Tangled stamp, I'm going to enter the Little Tangles Challenge # 54 where their theme is:

I'm also going to link to the Take it, Make it - March Challenge where their theme is 'Anything Goes - as long as you use a stamp on your project'.

And will also enter the Fusion Card Challenge  where their theme is:

The battle to keep my eyes open has been won by my eyes (buggar!) so will post my other two cards tomorrow night.

Take care
Shona
