Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge

Hi everyone!! We are having the strangest weather these days. Over the weekend and Monday it was so hot and humid. Yesterday it rained in the morning, then the sun come out to leave us all hot again for night-time. Today the temp has dropped dramatically and the rain came back. No wonder everyone is getting sick! Poor Max started off with hives on Friday morning, which turned into a cold by Friday afternoon, which turned into a bronchial/croup cough by Saturday. He's gradually feeling better but took him to Doctor today for steroids as he just can't sleep with all the coughing going on. So he's been off school since Friday and we stayed home together today and watched the latest Spiderman movie. Was really nice.

Right, enough of me blabbering, I'm here to show you a last minute card for the latest Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Anything Goes'. I coloured some new stamp images a few nights ago and finally worked out how to make the design in my head:

I recently purchased this Avery Elle 'Floral Bouquet' stamp set with matching dies from someone who was 'Spring cleaning' their craft stash. They had never been used and as I had always wanted this set, I grabbed them for a bargain!!

I firstly stamped and heat embossed the floral image on some Strathmore Bristol Smooth CS in white. I then coloured it using my Altenew Markers Set A and die-cut it out with the matching die.

I kept picturing this on the inside of a card but with it still seen from the front, so  it took me a while to get my head around where to do the score lines. The piece of CS was 11 inches long, so I scored it 2 3/4 from each end. I then wondered how would I die-cut just the front panels. I ended up by placing the die in the middle and taping one side down with washi tape. I then unfolded it, die-cut that side, folded up again, taped down the other side and put that one through my Cuttlebug unfolded. My brain felt like I was designing something for NASA!!

With that out of the way it was smooth sailing. I added foam tape to the back of the flowers and put it in place with the card closed. I then stamped the 'Hugs' (from the same stamp set) in black and glued on some blue sequins from Neat and Tangled, and some black half-circle pearls.

I'm also going to link this to the CAS on Friday Challenge #127 where their theme is 'One Layer Wonder'.

Its dinnertime here so I better get a wriggle on. Back to work tomorrow as the rain isn't supposed to return for a few days. Will have to see how Max is in the morning. Thank goodness for my Mum who looks after the kids when I have to work. I don't know what I'd do without her!!!

Take care
Shona

  2. What a great card Shona - love how you have displayed it. I know what you mean about the weather - we have had some 30 oC days here, and currently it's rumbling with thunder, but not a lot of rain. I hope you have not been flooded!
    Blessings

  3. So glad your aeronautical engineer brain figured out this beauty. It really is a fantastic tri-fold. And your coloring is just perfect for this image. Kudos girl...your call from NASA will be forthcoming.
