CAS-ual Fridays Stamps and Chibitronics Blop Hop - Day 1

Talk about an exciting day!! I'm so excited to be part of this collaboration blog hop between CAS-ual Fridays Stamps and Chibitronics!!

You should have arrived here from the blog of the fabulous Vanessa who I'm sure wowed you with an incredible project. If you would like to start at the beginning of the hop, you can get the complete list on the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps blog.

I've always wanted to try using Chibitronics on a card but didn't think my brain would allow me to work it all out. Well, it turns out its not as hard as I thought:

So here is the finished card. I'll be totally honest with you, I did have some teething issues at the beginning but with the help of my husband and the book that comes with the Chibitronics Starter Kit I worked out what I had done wrong and now I'm hooked!!

I'm sorry I didn't get a photo of the circuit I created but I was so worried it wouldn't work that I didn't think about it until it was all together. And there is no way I would dare take it apart now, lol!!

So, to start with I die-cut some white CS using the larger circle die from the Ornament Tag Fri-Dies. I then die-cut this snowflake from Flurry Fri-Dies from the middle. I added a piece of plain vellum to the back of the circle and then inlaid the same snowflake die-cut from silver glitter CS. From the card front I then die-cut the 2nd largest Bubble Box Fri-Die, adhered a piece of white CS behind it and inlaid the same die-cut from pink glitter paper.

The circuit and battery cover is the same as this one used by Jennifer McGuire here. I used two white lights on either side behind the snowflake middle and I built up the foam tape to a double layer so that the light didn't stay on until you pressed it, like this:

Thanks Phoebe for the use of her 12yr old hand instead of looking at my grubby gardening fingers!!  And this is what it looks like in the dark:

Its so cool, I can't believe I got it to work!! The reason I had a problem is not that my circuit was incorrect with the positive/negative side of things. I relaid the copper tape again and it worked perfectly, so I think I must have torn it and not realised. All I had to do now was adhere the circle to the front of my card. And I also heat embossed the sentiment from Lovely Blessings in silver on a strip of white CS, popped it on foam tape and glued on some pink and clear sequins from the Sistahood Sparkle Sequin Mix.

I'm going to enter this into the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Clean and Simple'.

And all the products I used today (except the sequins) have amazing sale prices at the moment. AND if you use my Girl Friday code you can save an additional 15%!!!

Whew, that was one long post, I hope your still with me!! Your next stop is the fabulous Wei Wei and I can only imagine the gorgeous project she will have to show you. Don't forget there is a 'Day 2' tomorrow and you have the chance to win prizes from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps  and Chibitronics

Take care
Shona
