Hi there everyone and welcome to another week at the Addicted to Stamps and More challenge!!
Firstly I just want to apologise to Kylie and my team mates for this challenge as my card is so very late. I couldn't get it ready in time to be included on the challenge blog itself and I'm sorry to let my team down.
This week we have the very popular 'Make Your Mark' challenge theme. I used to dread this one as my colouring skills were awful and I didn't really have much in the way of colouring tools. However, after a few years of purchasing and practicing its now one of my favourite themes!!
For this weeks card I really wanted to try out some new markers and ink that I finally got my hands on:
So many new things on this card!! I think this is the first time I'm using this stamp set and I recently purchased the background die too. Wonderful to see it all together!!
I started off by die-cutting the background die once from white CS and adhering to the card front. I finally purchased some Memento Black Ink so used that to stamp the flowers and leaves on some Strathmore Bristol Smooth CS. I then used my new alcohol markers that I found in a local stationary store. It's not very obvious who makes them but has #coloring on the front and Art Supply Enterprises on the back, so will go with that. Its a pack of pink/purple markers and the dark pink was exactly what I wanted!!
I coloured the flowers with the markers, some of them I gave a few layers of colour. I didn't have a darker colour to add some shading so I used a dark pink pencil to do that. I also stamped out some leaves and used some different alcohol markers to colour those. I then fussy cut them out and adhered to the card.
I wanted to keep the sentiment very simple so I just stamped it with black ink (a couple of times with my MISTI) and cut around it. It didn't look right with foam tape behind it so just adhered it in place, along with some co-ordinating sequins. So very happy with the final result!!
The flowers, leaves and sentiment are from Altenew 'Adore You'. The green alcohol markers are also by Altenew, and so is the background die 'Layered Medallions Cover Plate A'. The sequins are from Neat and Tangled.
I'm going to link this to the Altenew Inspiration Challenge - May where I was inspired by their gorgeous colour palette.
And will also link to the Cutplorations Challenge - May where they have a beautiful floral photo in similar colours.
You have until Wednesday 24th May to link your projects to the Addicted to Stamps and More challenge and if you are looking for ideas, pop over to the blog to see what the rest of the Design Team have created for you. You just might find something that catches your eye!! Look forward to seeing you in the Gallery.
Take care
Shona
