Hope your all having a fantastic day. Its time for my 'Girl Friday' day on the CAS-ual Fridays blog!!
I really wanted to have a bit more of a play with the new stamps and dies from the New Release, and see what I could come up with:
Rainbows always make me smile and the kids and I are always excited to see one. I came up with this idea for the Distress Inks in the shower, a place where I often think of designs. Wasn't sure if it would work but really pleased with how it turned out!
I cut a panel of white CS slightly smaller than the black CS base and then stamped and heat embossed the flowers from the 'Pretty Posies' stamp set in white. Then I used my mini-blending tool and Distress Inks: Picked Raspberry, Salty Ocean, Mustard Seed and Spiced Marmalade. I don't have a green Distress Ink so used my Mama Elephant Pigment Ink 'Mojito' which as Laura Bassen says 'spreads like butta'.
To get the strips, I just held a piece of scrap CS with my left hand where I wanted the colour to finish. It didn't worry me to have the colour blending a little on the bottom part of the strip and it softened the edges slightly. Once finished I die-cut the 'Smile' from the 'Smiling Fri-Dies' set. I also heat embossed the sentiment from the 'Girlfriend' stamp set in white on a strip of black CS and adhered to the front. The whole panel was then popped up on the front of the card base.
Just love the bright colours against the black, really makes them pop. And don't forget that if you do want to purchase these or any other CAS-ual Fridays products, you can use my 'Girl Friday Code' to save yourself some money!!
I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day yesterday and were able to spend time with your babies, fur babies or your own Mum.
Take care
Shona
Such a pretty rainbow, Shona ... fabulous with the bold black in the sentiment! It might have been lots of work but it was so worth it for this lovely result! Hugs, Anita :)
