Honey I Shrunk the Kit # 5

Hi everybody and welcome to our latest instalment of 'Honey I Shrunk the Kit'!! This is something that was thought up by my bloggie friend and fellow crafter Hazel (of Hazel's Paper Designs). She invited myself and fellow friend/crafter Sarah (of Funky Fossil Designs) to start a 'made at home' kit that we would send to each other every few months.

So every two months, one of us takes the turn of making up a kit that fits into a normal sized envelope. It can contain whatever we like and we decide on a theme. We then all make CAS inspired cards with the contents and blog our creations. Its been so much fun and I love to see what we all come up with using the same items.

Its even more exciting this time around because we have two more crafty friends joining us!! The incredible Sandie from London Days and fabulous Sarah from Sazzle Dazzle Crafts are joining in on the fun and I know their projects are going to be amazing!!!!

Right, Sarah G was in charge of the kits this time around and here is the photo she took of the contents:

Didn't she do well with this kit???? So many gorgeous papers, dies and glitter. Her theme is 'You're a Gem' and she certainly is for putting this all together!! I managed to make four cards with my goodies, I hope you like them!

For my first card I fussy cut some gems that Sarah had stamped on white CS and coloured them purple, pink and red with my Ziggies. I then created a shaker card using my Pretty Pink Posh frame and some silver star sequins (from Papervine). The 'happy' die is from Winnie and Walter and the 'sparkle' sentiment also from W&W 'My Precious'.

For my second card, I used the papers that came in the kit and adhered them on the card front. I created a panel and used a Pretty Pink Posh zig-zag border die to add some interest. I heat embossed the sentiment in silver (from Winnie and Walter 'My Precious'), popped the panel up on foam tape and added the gem die-cut (Lil Inkers) and bling from the kit.

For my third card I used my Waffle Flower 'Flower Die' to cut out the stamped sentiment from the kit. I also used a circle die from Couture Creations to cut a slightly larger circle from the kit paper. I added the adhesive glitter tape from the kit to the card front, created a panel to pop up on foam tape and adhered the two circles. I added bling from the kit and also peach sequins from Neat and Tangled and clear from Pretty Pink Posh.

For my final (and favourite) card, I used Distress Inks 'Picked Raspberry', 'Worn Lipstick' and 'Spun Sugar' to water colour an ombre look on the die-cut from the kit (from Hero Arts). I adhered a piece of the kit paper to the card front and added LOTS of foam tape pieces to the back of the die to pop it up over the paper. I used a rectangle die from Couture Creations to cut out the sentiment from the kit and glued over top. Some sequins from Neat and Tangled and bling from the kit finished it off nicely.

I'm dying to go and visit Sarah G, Hazel, Sandie and Sarah P to see what they came up with. Its always amazing to see how differently we are inspired by the kit contents.

Thank you again Hazel for inviting me to be part of this fun and creative group!!! Its my turn to create the next kit so I better get my thinking cap on!! I'm off now to visit the girls and I hope you can do so as well. I know they would love to see you!

Take care
Shona

  1. Shona, Shona, Shona! I have just visited all four of you amazing girls and I am ready to unpost my cards. These look absolutely gorgeous!! I love your gem shaker, and the choice of gem colour is so alluring!! The layering of the 'my precious' one is so contemporary - love that zig zag die cut edge too, and the way the tip of the diamond hangs off the edge. The layered circles for the sparkle card is so clean and neat, and your shine bright starry background with that patterned paper peeping out behind looks so pretty! I still haven't used that background starry die piece yet as I was stumped as to what I should best do with it! I have been spoilt for CASE choices. Love, love LOVE our team! Thanks so much for being part of it!! xx

  4. wow Shona, creativity sure blooms here! Your shaker card is stunning-what a great way to use the baby gems-I was so unsure how to use them. You really rocked the use of the DSP on both the second and third cards. Love the strip of silver on the third with the added dimension. And wow to the sponging on the last card. Amazing how we all used this pack so differently-looking forward to seeing your pack x
