Curtain Call Challenge - Going Batty

Last night the kids and I watched Poltergeist, the original version. When I tell you that Max is nearly 9yrs old and Phoebe is 10yrs old you will be going 'good grief, you let them watch a horror movie??'. Normally not, but both of them have caught my horror movie bug and were desperate to see this. So, they sat near me while I watched (and made a few cards) and I told them when something was going to happen. And you know what.....they loved it!! They didn't find it scary at all and Max said it was his new favourite movie. Go figure!!

So all this scary movie watching got me right in the mood to create a card for the Curtain Call challenge. And I knew I had some batty paper somewhere....:

I've had this paper for months and couldn't wait to finally use it. I cut a panel the same size as the card front and die-cut the circle. I stamped and die-cut the witches hat and used my purple Ziggie to add some colour.

I finally worked out what has been going on with my blending. I'm never happy with it and its so blotchy. Turns out its the card stock!! I tried blending this purple Distress Ink on some water colour paper and like Laura Bassen would say 'it spread like butter!'. The difference was incredible so thank you so much Barb (who sent me the water colour CS), you've solved this problem!!

Of course, after blending it I decided it needed a bit more interest so threw some blobs of water on it. Its not something I do often and I'm not completely happy with the 'blobs' but good to do something different. I adhered the purple panel to the card front and put the batty paper on some foam tape. The witches hat was on foam tape too and glued on the sentiment banner. Spooky!

The patterned paper is from Bella Blvd 'Too cute to Spook'. The sentiment and hat stamp/die are from Hampton Art.

I'm going to link this to the Simply Create Too Challenge # 96 where their theme is 'Halloween Colours'.

And will also link to the Simon Says Stamp - World Card Making Day Challenge where you have the chance to win a $100 voucher.

I have one more card to post and then I need to make a million cards. Okay, not quite a million but quite a few, so luckily I have a lot of recorded tv programmes to catch up on. Now I just need everyone to go to bed......

Take care
Shona

  7. How brave all of you are to watch horror movies! Me: chicken, chicken, chicken! Your card is simply splendid, Shona - amazing how paper can make all the difference, be it for blending, stenciling or water-colour (which I'm done with!). The witch's hat: awesome!
