I've been in a bit of a card-making funk lately. I have no idea why. My health hasn't been the best which doesn't help and for the past three weeks I've only managed one late night because I've been so fatigued. Its so frustrating because I really depend on that time after everyone has gone to bed, so I can craft and catch up on tv.
I think I've also been very overwhelmed by all the incredible cards that everyone has been making lately and it got me thinking that my projects will never be as good as that. Silly huh??!!
Anyway, today it rained so no gardening for me and I decided to forget the housework and made myself sit down and make a card. I thought it would be a good idea to start with a challenge with a photo and the Runway Inspired Challenge photo was stuck in my brain.
Love this outfit so much!! Although I'm way too much of a grubby to wear a white jacket but the aqua/green/black geometric print with the white and black is stunning!!! So I found a diamond shaped stamp and off I went:
My idea was to have the stamping in the middle with the white panels on either side (like the white jacket) and then the sentiment on black CS with white embossing (like the belt). Hope that makes sense??!
I used a diamond stamp from Altenew 'Simple Shapes' and stamped in a random pattern. After cutting out the panels, I popped them both up on foam tape. The sentiment (from Neat and Tangled 'Faceted') was heat embossed in white and then put on some foam tape as well. A few co-ordinating enamel dots finished it off. So pleased to have broken the dry spell!!!
I have two other challenges I would like to enter:
Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge (Use a Stamp and Blog Hop)
Virginia's View Challenge # 18
I actually managed to make two cards today (which is totally amazing but my un-vacuumed floor keeps looking at me....). Will get that posted and then off to bed I go.
Take care
Shona

ReplyDeleteI love this!!
ReplyDeleteShona, I completely relate to the "my cards aren't good enough" feeling, which is why, even though I've been creating, I'm reaching the 'don't want to share my amateur cards that are so poorly photographed" stage. I don't have words to express how grateful I am that you share your amazing creative expression with us; a gift and a talent that brings us so much delight! Your posts are charming, inviting and friendly, and your cards are truly artistic! Hope you'll feel better soon and believe - deeply and fully - how awesome you and your creations are! Your translation of the RIC outfit: stunning! You've definitely caught that classy look!
