Waffle Flower Challenge June 22 - July 5

Well, the school holidays have officially started!! We even came home (and after I did all my after school jobs i.e. unpacking bags, folding washing etc) got into our pyjama's and onesies (as its still raining and cold) and watched a movie. Was awesome! Now we just have to get thru the next two weeks without the kids killing each other......

I so love the colours in this photo. All that mint, bright yellow and turquoise is so dreamy..... This is the inspiration photo for the Waffle Flower Challenge. I knew that whatever I created, I wanted to be able to show the different tones of green and blue. So a little blending was called for:

I haven't tried using my Hero Arts Shadow Ink Mid-Tone ink pads for blending but had the perfect colours, so gave it a shot. I started blending Tide Pool on some white CS and gradually added in Mint Julep. They worked perfectly!

I used my Waffle Flower Doily Die and die-cut all three pieces. This is where it got a bit fiddly. I didn't want to use the outside lacy square but wanted the lace pieces, so I cut it up. I was left with four strips that fit perfectly under the edge of the square frame die, so glued them all on. This was then adhered to the card front. I then cut up lots of tiny foam tape pieces to pop up the circle square piece.

After stamping 'Celebrate' (from Waffle Flower 'Congrats') I fussy cut it and glued it across the front. I added some yellow sequins from the Winnie and Walter Birthday Bash set by Pretty Pink Posh. Absolutely love how it turned out and will definitely try out my other ink pads for blending.

I'm also going to link this to the Stamplorations 2nd Birthday Blog Hop Challenge. The greens in the mood board really jumped out at me and just love those twirly confetti pieces falling down with the balloons (reminded me of the lace detail on the die).

I have a huge amount of cards due this week and stayed up till 2am this morning trying to get things done. Will make the most of the weekend and stay up late tonight and Saturday nigh to craft my heart out. We have nothing on this weekend and Dave is home so might be able to sleep in a little.......

Take care
Shona
