Just Add Ink Challenge # 254

I don't think anyone told in the sun in Blenheim (where I live in New Zealand) that its now Autumn and it doesn't need to shine so brightly or with such heat anymore. I got very sunburnt while gardening on Tuesday but only realised when I hopped in the shower Wednesday morning....ouch!!! So Autumn hasn't really started here yet and there is still no rain....

The colours for this weeks Just Add Ink challenge remind me a bit of Autumn, with the leaves eventually turning orange, then brown and the lawns getting lush and green from all the rain (hopefully...).

I'll be honest, I was a little stumped with these colours because they are colours I never use. However, it was a great chance to experiment with them and learn to use them in a different way.

I purchased a second hand set of waffle-edged square dies a few weeks ago and had this design in my head ready to go. Since I don't have any inks in the button colours, I thought it best to use kraft cardstock for my 'brown sugar' and some patterned papers for the rest. I think the colours worked out perfectly!

It was pretty simple to make. I die-cut lots of squares from both papers and arranged them over the card front, trimming back any over the edges. The squares were then all popped up on foam tape while trying to keep them in line and have the same spacing. I wanted to keep the sentiment simple, so cut a piece of white CS and heat embossed the sentiment in gold. No sequins or enamel dots needed.

Unfortunately I don't know the company who made the waffle-square dies. The sentiment is from Hero Arts 'Year Round Sentiments'. The green paper is from Echo Park 'Dots and Stripes' and the orange paper from Kaisercraft 'Happy Snaps'.

The challenge runs till next Wednesday 18th March 10pm. Hopefully this will give you plenty of time to mix these colours into something amazing that might encourage me to use these colours more!! The rest of the Design Team have created some amazing projects for you on the Just Add Ink blog if your needing some inspiration. I can't wait to see what you come up with!!!

Take care
Shona

You could send the sun over to the Northern Hemisphere. 6ÂșC in mid March just seems wrong! :) Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog, Shona. Following you. :)

  7. This colour combo stumped me a bit too - I'm not an Autumn fan at all (just another reminder that the cold of Winter is on its way). Your card is pretty cool - looks a lot like a quilt as others have said and I love that sentiment! x

  10. The NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in the United States, currently including 68 college basketball teams from the Division I degree of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), to figure out the championship game. The event was produced in 1939 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, as well as was the concept of Ohio State University instructor Harold Olsen. [1] Played mostly during March, it is known informally as March Madness or the Big Dance, and has turned into one of the most renowned yearly showing off occasions in the United States.

The event groups consist of champs from 32 Division I seminars (which obtain automated bids), and 36 groups which are awarded at-large berths. These "at-large" teams are chosen by an NCAA choice board, after that revealed in a country wide telecasted event on the Sunday coming before the First Four play-in games, currently held in Dayton, Ohio, and called Selection Sunday. The 68 groups are separated right into four regions as well as arranged right into a single removal "bracket", which pre-determines, when a group wins a game, which team it will deal with following. Each team is "seeded", or placed, within its region from 1 to 16. After an initial four video games between eight lower-ranked teams, the tournament takes place during the course of three weekend breaks, at pre-selected neutral websites throughout the United States. Teams, seeded by ranking, proceed through a solitary video game removal bracket starting with a first round consisting of 64 groups, to a "Sweet Sixteen", and also for the last weekend of the competition, a Final Four. The Final Four is typically played during the initial weekend of April. These 4 teams, one from each region (East, South, Midwest, as well as West), contend in one area for the national championship.

  11. nd it's all the worse at altitude. Because of dehydration effects, combining alcohol with air travel is "a double whammy," a huge concern in an NBA world where an 82-game season brings 45,000 miles of air travel on average, equivalent to cumulatively spending about 140 hours in the air per season. Typical flights operate between 10 percent and 20 percent humidity in the cabin,
