I can never resist a rainbow, so when I saw the photo inspiration at the Just Add Ink challenge, I really had to play along:
Now I didn't want to do a 'rainbow' exactly, so I decided to play around with the colours themselves. You'll never believe how my card turned out:
Talk about crazy 'rainbowness'!! I started with the idea of using a circle stamp and stamping the colours from the bottom left of the card. I got half-way across the card and decided to sleep on my ideas first as I wasn't sure what to do.
Well, last night I decided to carry the rainbow across the rest of the card. I then spent what seemed like HOURS, die-cutting the circles out of another piece of cardstock. I then spent what seemed like TWO YEARS cutting out millions of tiny pieces of foam tape to pop my circles up.
I wanted a bold sentiment and thought gold would be perfect. The only problem is that I'm still learning with regards to heat embossing and its very stippled. Not sure what I'm doing wrong....any tips you have would be fantastic! A scattering of gold sequins and my crazy rainbow card was done. Talk about colourful!
The circle stamp is from Couture Creations. The metal die is from Pretty Pink Posh. The sentiment and sequins are from Neat and Tangled.
Because this is a new type of card design for me and something I've wanted to try for a few weeks now, I'm going to enter this card into the challenge at Simply Create Too! #69 where their theme is 'Show us Something New'.
I'm also going to enter this into the Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge where their theme is 'Anything Goes'. This is my fourth entry.
Have one more card to post and think I will crawl into bed early tonight. Spent 3 hours pruning roses for a friend today and have scratches all up my arms. Roses are painful but so worth it!!!
Take care
Shona

ReplyDeleteShona this card is glorious, and well worth the work you put in. Thanks so much for joining the challenge fun at Just Add Ink this week.
ReplyDeleteWith regard to your stippled heat embossing, I don't think you're doing anything wrong, I find that the Gold ep tends to have that look regardless of the preparation beforehand. So long as you're using your embossing buddy over the c/s first (to prevent static and bits of dust etc clinging) then stamping a good clear image in Versamark then you're doing it all fine!
Stunning card. Shona - glad you stuck with it!!
ReplyDeleteIn terms of embossing solid images I tend to find that it melts more smoothly if I heat from underneath. You may have already tried that but I definitely get a more stippled effect when heating from above. Let me know if that helps :)
Very cool card design!
ReplyDeleteFabulous....just fabulous! I love it so so much. You are just amazing and so so stinkin' clever. I love it...did I already say that??? Your card looks just as yummy as that fun dessert.
