CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #128

Well, what a silly girl I am!! I was determined to finish a card today so I could enter it in the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge which needed to be entered by about 2am tomorrow (Friday) morning (for me in New Zealand). I had some time before and after taking Bella (our golden retriever) for a walk. I was so pleased with the card and was about to do a blog post, when I decided to get the CAS-ual Fridays link. It was then that I found my problem....
CFC128: This week has a twist so be sure to read the entire theme...
Create a  farewell card that is long and NOT a traditional A2 card.
example: 2 x 4. 3 x 6, 4 x 6
This challenge ends at noon eastern on February 20th.

Unfortunately I had rushed reading through the challenge details. I knew the card had to be longer than normal BUT I hadn't read that it needed to be a farewell card...my card was about Love!

So, I have put that card aside (will share it in a few days) and after getting the kids from school I managed to grab a bit of time to create something new.
I don't get the chance to stamp very often, mainly because I don't have many stamps and only a couple of ink pads but had a picture in my mind of a main heart above the sentiment with hearts floating away and getting smaller in the distance. I don't have any farewell stamp sentiments, so hopefully this card will make it into the challenge!

The sentiment is from Hero Arts 'Year Round Sentiments', the hearts are from Lawn Fawn 'Woodgrain Backdrops' and 'Into the Woods'. The blue paper is from 'Here and Now' by Lori Whitlock. I added some Wink of Stella to the solid hearts. Was going to add Glossy Accents on top of that but didn't want to go overboard.

This is probably the most stamped images I've had on one card, so I'm amazed I only managed to smudge one heart! I would love to do more stamping and have so many ideas floating around but unfortunately I just can't afford to buy ANY craft products at the moment. I keep going in for the many blog giveaways where there are so many ink pads to be won. I don't have much of a chance of winning but you just never know.......

I have 3 more challenge cards to get finished by Sunday night, so better get cracking!! Its Phoebes' 9th birthday on Sunday and her best friend is coming to stay for the weekend. They are planning on staying up till midnight on Saturday night, bet I fall asleep first!!

Take care
Shona

  1. I'm so with you about the lack of stamps and inks, Shona ... till a little while ago, I was the same! Keep playing along with the giveaways ... you'll have a lucky win or two ... and then you'll wonder what you did without those stamps! I did! Lovely card ... those cascading hearts are fabulous! Anita :)

  2. I am in the same boat on the lack of stamps etc... But do you know what? I think it makes you more creative! Instead of reaching for something that is custom made for every possible occasion, you have to think outside of the box and use what you have to fit what you want...and I think this would've passed as a farewell-type card...like you were missing someone already ;) It is a really sweet card, I love all those hearts floating up into the air with all their love fit to burst!! ;)
