Hi there everyone, hope your having a good week and had a chance here and there to do some crafting!! I'm just wanting to remind you about our current TIME OUT challenge. We have a 'Home Sweet Home' theme for you this time with a photo to inspire you:
Its a rather masculine and stylish room with so many different elements to inspire you. You could create something based on a piece of furniture, the colours, what an item represents etc......its totally up to you!!

For my card design I knew I had a stamp of the world somewhere and wanted to capture the idea of someone being away in another country:
I don't think I've ever actually stamped out this map of the world before, so its nice to finally get that stamp dirty!!
I started by die-cutting the tag from white CS. I stamped the 'world' twice (using my MISTI) with black Versafine ink and then heat embossing with clear embossing powder for some shine. I then used a hole punch and tied a bow with some gold twine.
For the background I found this paper which is covered with words in different languages, so I die-cut the shape from it and adhered to the card front. I put the tag on some foam tape, added the fussy cut and heat embossed sentiment on foam tape as well, and glued on a few gold sequins for shine.
The map and sentiment are from Concord and 9th 'Map Love'. The patterned paper is from Basic Grey 'B-Side'. The stitched-tag die is from Pretty Pink Posh. The shaped die is from CAS-ual Fridays Stamps 'Bubble Box Fri-Dies' and the gold sequins from Neat and Tangled.

Hi there everyone and happy Monday!! I've had a fantastic start to my week. Dave started a new job today and we had to drive him to Nelson to pick up his work car and meet with his colleagues etc. So I decided the kids could take the day off and we would go to the new Indoor Trampoline park. It was awesome and after 3 hours of jumping we drove home and are all ready for bed!
I remembered though that I had a card for the current CASology challenge and only a few hours left to link it up, so here is my very quick post before my eyes close!
Yep, the Cue Word for this week is 'Juicy'. I had so many ideas for this but just didn't have the right stamps and dies to turn my ideas into a card. I was flicking through some patterned paper yesterday and kept coming across watermelons, so decided to try and create my own:
I think this is the very first watercolouring project where the paint did exactly what I wanted it to do!!!
I started off by cutting a 'curved triangle' freehand from some watercolour CS. I grabbed Distress Inks 'Mowed Lawn' and 'Worn Lipstick', a big round paintbrush, my palette and some water. I really wanted to capture the true colouring of a watermelon, where its green on the outside, fades to white and then light pink to darker in the middle. Using lots of water and doing brushstrokes across the triangle I managed to do just that. I'm so happy with how it turned out. There might actually be some hope for me in the 'watercolouring' world!!
Once the paint was dry, I used a fine tip black pen to draw on the seeds, added some foam tape to the back and put on the card front. I then found this sentiment from Clearly Besotted 'Vegetable Patch' which I thought fit the card perfectly. I stamped it on a strip of white CS, put it on foam tape as well and added some Neat and Tangled clear sequins for a touch of shine.

My bed is calling my name. At least I don't need to worry about my electric blanket tonight. I don't know what's going on with the weather but it's so warm tonight. I took Bella for a walk at 5.30pm and it didn't start getting dark until 6pm, 30 mins later than usual for this time of year and it was 13 degrees (celcius) about 10 degrees warmer than usual. Spring may have arrived a month early, which would be great but I have a feeling we will be hit by a frost at some stage to shock us back into Winter! Buggar!

If you haven't noticed by now, I LOVE a rainbow colour combo, so I couldn't let the AAA Card Challenge go by without creating another entry!!
For my card I actually ended up with a design that was completely different from what I started with. And then I changed it again, so I suppose this is 3rd time lucky:
I had always planned on doing a blended background but it wasn't until I had all my Distress Inks out in front of me that I came up with the rainbow idea. And you wouldn't believe it but this actually used to be a shaker card....I thought it would be cool to put a rainbow mix of tiny seed beads in but after going to all that trouble I decided it looked too busy. So a bit of surgery had to be done to pour out all the beads, which of course ended up all over my table!
To start off I cut a panel of white CS the same size as my card front and die-cut the heart shape from it. The die I was using has a smaller die with it and I used that to cut the negative piece so I ended up with this insert. Before I did anything else I stamped my sentiment on this piece, as I normally forget to do this until after I've put it on foam tape. I put the panel over the card front and gently marked with a pencil where the heart shape would sit. This way I could blend away knowing where the colours would show.
Once I was happy with the blending, I popped the panel on top of it using foam tape. Now as I mentioned, this was originally a shaker card, so I had put a piece of acetate behind the panel and adhered the middle part to it. However, with it now having no beads in it, I could have forgone the acetate and just put the middle part on foam tape as well. To finish off I added a few pink and clear sequins.
The 'Floral Heart' dies are from Neat and Tangled, as well as the sentiment stamp 'Floral Heart' and the sequins.

Its nearly 5.30pm so I better start thinking about what to whip up for dinner. I wish I was one of those organised women who work out their weeks menu's on a Sunday so they have all their ingredients ready. Unfortunately I'm at the other end of the spectrum and just think up something on the spot. As long as everyone eats it I'm happy but just wish someone else would do all the dishes......
