Hi there and welcome to a new month which means a new challenge theme at The Flower Challenge. This month we have a rather interesting challenge theme for you:
CASE a Design Team Member
That's right!! You get to choose a card created by a member of the Design Team and come up with your own project, inspired by that design. How cool is that!! There are so many amazing girls on this DT, I'm sure you will want to CASE more than one!!
For my card I finally used a stamp set that I received a while ago. I actually coloured it with pencils but then ruined it by trying to add white dots with a gel pen. I hadn't done that before and it looked like it had powdery mildew all over it..yuck. So this is a much better version:
I knew when I was creating this card that it would be very hard to photograph. You'll see what I mean in a moment......
I started off by stamping the WPlus9 'Kind Soul' image on some water colour CS with black Versafine Ink, and then heat embossing with clear powder. I then spent some time colouring this using my Gansai Tambi paints. Once it had dried I then fussy cut the whole image. This is when my design became hard to photograph....
I decided that I wanted the floral edge to be the bottom edge of the card front. So I cut the card front in half and added the flowers to it, using foam tape, so that some of the flowers were hanging over the bottom edge. Its very hard to see here but this photo might give you a better idea:
This is why I couldn't photograph the card standing up like I usually do. The card front is too short and will only stand if at a funny angle. I realise it exposes some of the inside of the card but there is still enough room inside to hide a lovely message.
I stamped the sentiment (from the same set) on a strip of white CS, popped it on foam tape and added some sequins from Neat and Tangled.
I really hope someone is inspired to CASE my card, I would love to see it through someone else's eyes!!
I have two challenges I would like to enter:
Simon Says Stamp - Wednesday Challenge (A Hint of Pink)
CAS Watercolour Challenge - May
You have until Thursday 25th May to link your projects to The Flower Challenge and we will be back on the 15th May with some more cards to inspire you to CASE. I can't wait to see what cards you choose and how amazing your CASE cards are!
Take care
Shona

I love your idea with the floral edge! Beautiful coloring! I know what you mean with mildew... It is so hard for me too to work with a white gel pen on a colored image!!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, this is brilliant. The floral edge makes this card spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try this. I follow you on IG, that is how I decided to do this. Time to pull out the water color markers and not the Tombow markers.
